Common questions
What is a Landie?
A Landie is a retro-style phone made for kids. It works over your home internet and gives your child their own phone number to make and receive calls — no screen, no internet browsing, no apps for them to get lost in. Just real phone calls. You stay in control through the Landie app: you decide who can call, who your child can reach, and when.
Who is Landie for?
Landie is great for kids of all ages, but it's especially loved by families with children around 5–12 — old enough to want a bit of independence, too young for a smartphone.
Can I keep my current phone number?
Not yet — at launch, every Landie comes with its own new phone number. Transferring an existing number isn't available in this version.
How does the Landie app work?
The Landie app (iPhone and Android) is how you set up and manage the phone: add approved contacts, set quiet hours, choose speed dials, and check that the phone's connected. You decide exactly who your child can call and who can reach them. Your Wi-Fi details are sent straight to the phone during setup and aren't stored in the cloud.
Can my child call 000 in an emergency?
Yes — calling 000 is always available, no matter your contact settings, as long as your home internet is on. Because a Landie makes all of its calls over the internet, it can't make any calls — including 000 — if your internet or power is down. So we always recommend keeping another way to reach emergency services, like a mobile.
Does Landie need the internet?
Yes — a Landie uses your home internet (Wi-Fi) to make and receive calls. It does not give your child internet access, web browsing, or apps. It connects purely for voice calls.
What's in the box?
A Landie phone with a companion operating unit (aka the Heart), a power adapter, a Quick Start card with a QR code and safety & warranty information. Just plug in and connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
